Cheyenne Morgan
My name is Kil Gal Tseetiks, I belong to the Wilp of Woosim Laxha. We’re a Gisgaast house from Anspayaxw. Cheyenne Morgan is my Canadian name. My mother is Cheryl Morgan and my grandmother is Peggy Morgan.
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and a Master of Education Degree with a specialized focus on Indigenous Language Revitalization. I’ve been studying Sim Algyax for over 10 years, and actively trying to increase my proficiency. I enjoy speaking our language in the home with my children, and in the community when I bump into speakers. In recent years I’ve been working hard to learn Chilkat weaving and I look forward to reintroducing this practice into my lineage.
In applying for a position on the board of directors I was influenced by my values. It’s important to me that any activities taking place on our territories are sustainable, ensuring we still have healthy territories and food sources for ourselves and our descendants. I believe our Chiefs should have access to resources to be able to make informed decisions, be supported to push back against unsustainable practices, and be well-compensated for any activities that do take place on the territory.
I look forward to working for our Chiefs and for our people and am very grateful for this opportunity.
