Director-at-Large (2 yr term)

Kirby Muldoe

Hup-Wil-Lax-A (Kirby Muldoe)

I was born in Hazelton British Columbia, and raised in Kispiox. I am a proud member of Wilp (house) Wii Gyet, Gisgaast Pdeek (Fireweed Clan) from the Gitxsan People. My mother is Isabell Muldoe originally from Kitkatla, Tsimsian people. My father is George Muldoe from Kispiox, Gitxsan People. I enjoy hunting, fishing, trapping, gathering berries and spending time out on the territories.

I have had many careers in my lifetime; I have been a carpenter, heavy equipment operator, post-secondary student, independent consultant and most recently I enjoy working with SkeenaWild Conservation Trust where I work towards building and maintaining relationships with nations in the Pacific Northwest. I also work protecting and defending salmon, salmon habitat and water, food security and food sovereignty for Indigenous Peoples.

I will fight to protect and defend our laws, our rights, ways of life and values for all Gitxsan and Indigenous Peoples. I will do this using our Gitxsan Ayookw (laws), British Columbia, Canadian and international laws. I will stand on my values of transparency, accountability and respect for all. I believe in effective communication, answering questions and finding solutions.

I have a great working relationship with individuals, communities, organizations and Nations throughout Alaska, British Columbia, Canada and the United States. I will utilize these connections to gather and share information, maximize respectful conversations and forward-looking solutions.

I have attended the United Nations three times in recent years. These visits have been in coordination with other Indigenous groups from across Canada to protect and defend our inherent Indigenous rights, our right to protect and defend those rights without fear of prosecution. I will use the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) in conjunction with our Ayookw to guide me.
