The Gitxsan Laxyip Management Office (GLMO) is pleased to offer two (2) Natural Resources Bursaries to support Gitxsan students pursuing post-secondary education in fields related to natural resources. This bursary is intended to encourage and assist students who are committed to caring for, protecting, and stewarding Gitxsan Lax’yip for present and future generations. The bursaries are $1000 each and will be awarded in June 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Gitxsan citizen or member
- Be accepted to or currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution
- Be studying in a Natural Resources–related field, such as (but not limited to):
- Natural Resource Management
- Forestry
- Environmental Science or Studies
- Biology
- Fisheries
- Conservation or Land Stewardship
- Demonstrate a strong interest in environmental stewardship and land-based work
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following:
- Completed bursary application form
- Proof of enrollment or acceptance into a post-secondary program
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee. Consideration will be given to:
- Academic commitment
- Demonstrated interest in Natural Resources
- Strength and clarity of application
- Potential to contribute positively to Gitxsan Lax’yip and community
Use of Funds
The bursary may be used to support education-related expenses, including tuition, books, supplies, and living costs associated with post-secondary studies.
