Donations Policy
The Gitxsan Laxyip Management Office (GLMO) works directly for the Hereditary Chiefs from the Gitxsan Nation. The purpose of the GLMO includes, as directed by the Hereditary Chiefs, is working with youth, culture and language revitalization, community engagement, and reconciliation while honouring and following our Ayookw.
- Purpose The purpose of the Donation Policy is to provide a transparent and equitable framework for the Gitxsan Laxyip Management Office to allocate financial donations to community initiatives, which can include Youth Sports Teams.
- Scope This policy applies to all donation requests received by the Gitxsan Laxyip Management Office
- Budget The Board of Directors will set a maximum annual budget for donations and review this budget periodically; the maximum amount of the donation will not exceed $250, this will allow us to accommodate as many requests as possible throughout the year.
- Eligibility Criteria To be eligible for a donation, the request must meet the following criteria:

- Must benefit a team/group, no individual sponsors
- For Youth Sports Teams (up to high school age 18)
- Must be of Gitxsan Ancestry
- Must be inclusive, encouraging participation, camaraderie and teamwork
- Application Process

- All donation requests should be submitted in writing
- Requests should include a detailed description of the cause, the amount requested and explanation of how the donation will benefit them
- Requests must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to the date the funds are needed
- Notification and Reporting

- The Executive Director or designate(s) will review all applications received and a decision will be made regarding
- The Executive Director will notify the requesting organization/team of the decision in writing
- In cases where a donation is made, the Board may request as a condition of the donation that the GLMO’s logo be displayed or some other form of acknowledgment of the donation to be made
- All donations made on behalf of GLMO will be reported back to the Board on a quarterly basis.
- Accountability and Transparency The Board is committed to ensuring that the allocation of donations is transparent, accountable, and justifiable. To maintain this commitment:

- GLMO will maintain records of all donation requests, decisions and the rationale for each decision.
- A summary of donations made, including the recipient, amount and purpose will be made available to the community on an annual basis or as requested.
