Tracey Woods
My traditional name is Gwilxs ‘Waax (Paddle back to my roots). I am a member of the Gitxsan Nation, born and raised in the community of Gitanmaax. I am a member of the Lax Seel (Frog) Clan from Wilps Gyet’m Galdo’o. My parents are Melvin and Audrey Woods, grandparents Philip (Smokey) and Rose Morrison and Jimmie and Irene Woods.
I am a firm believer in life long learning, and I am currently working towards the Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrators designation through the Aboriginal Financial Officers Association AFOA). I started my work journey with the Gitksan Wet’suwet’en Education Society (GWES) in 1997, where I worked as Registration Filing Clerk and worked my way up to Senior Administration/Program Manager. In 2018, I made the decision to move on where I took on the role as Human Resources Manager at a different Gitxsan entity.
I am excited to have joined the team at Gitxsan Lax Yip Management Office, and to be a part of the team that builds a strong foundation for the organization, while instilling the Gitxsan values and protocols into the way information is shared out to the Simgigyat and communities.
