Braided Knowledge
“Gitxsan Upper Nass and Upper Skeena Traditional Knowledge” video is a project that came from the Braided Knowledge grant through First Peoples’ Cultural Council. This project produced a cultural record of the histories and traditional laws connected with two (2) of the watersheds (Upper Nass and Upper Skeena). We conducted a series of interviews with Simgigyat from each of the Upper Nass and Upper Skeena watersheds to produce the video. The oral histories gathered will support all further land-use planning, but more importantly, we see this as an important moment to gather our cultural and traditional knowledge and oral histories as they pertain to these sites of historic relevance before any development work is undertaken.
The video project is now available for viewing on our youtube page: https://youtu.be/Ia4b1gJueWE
