My name is Gabriel Hilbach, I don’t yet have a Gitxsan name, but it is my goal to earn one. I am new to this industry, but I always give it my all to learn and become better every day. Another one of my goals is to become more engaged and active in my culture so that I can become well-versed in our traditions and excel in my role to better facilitate the Simgigyat to help lead our nation to a brighter future!
My most recent experience is working as an ‘Underground Mine Surveyor’ At the Brucejack gold mine near Stewart, BC. I’ve worked in that role for just over 2.5 years, and in those years, I’ve developed strong skills up to but not limited to interpersonal communication, trust building, analytical skills, teamwork, and problem-solving. I look forward to playing an integral part in giving back to the community that raised me in any way I can, so our nation can prosper economically, and the youth can have something to look forward to.
