Jeneen Woods
I am from the Gitxsan Nation and reside in Gitanmaax. I was raised by Gitxsan hereditary leadership, former Simoo’git Gutgwinuxs (Mel Woods) and Luu storm wilp Ayawasw (Audrey Woods), and am the second daughter of three.
I have an Information & Communication Technology
Certificate from NWCC, Web Technologies Associate
Certificate from BCIT. Digital Marketing Bootcamp
Certificate from Alacrity Academy and have taken courses
with JIBC (Lead 1100: Lead Yourself First, Lead 1101: Leading
Through Relationships, Lead 1102: Leading with Influence in
Organizations, & Cres 1100: Foundations of Collaborative
Conflict Resolution). Over the past year, I took on five GIS
courses while working full-time and have received
micro-credentials for each course from Seneca Polytechnic
in Toronto (GIS 501: Introduction to Geospatial Data, GIS
502: Geospatial Analysis, GIS 503: Advanced Geospatial
Analysis, GIS 504: Data Collection Technologies and GIS
504: Workflow & Asset Management). There was a need for
someone to help out our Resource Manager, and GLMO as
a whole, in the GIS area so I came across some fully funded
courses and applied.
Education has always been important to me as we were
always taught to get an education and work hard while
keeping our cultural values and beliefs. I am very happy to
have joined the Gitxsan Lax yip Management Office as the
Communications Manager. I hope to help bring new
technology to this role while helping provide
transparency, information sharing, and community
engagement in a clear and creative manner. I look forward
to every opportunity there is to learn even more about our
culture, language and Ayookw from our Simgigyat.
